I’m your girl Tena – Team88’s Social Community Director – here to give you a recap of all the festivities that took place this weekend at Morgan State University. Every year Morgan outdoes themselves by putting on a dope homecoming week and as usual Homecoming 2k17 didn’t fail!
Morgan’s Pep Rally was everything!
The Pep Rally is an event where different student organizations at the University showcase their talents. The crowd was going crazy as the dancers and models did their thing! This year’s Pep Rally was one the livest events ever!
Morgan State University’s 2017 homecoming concert was fun, fabulous and as the millennials would say, LIT! DJ Flow, who has been Morgan’s homecoming concert DJ for the last few years, took to the stage to get the crowd all warmed up for the night’s greatest event. When hip hop artist YBF took to the stage, the crowd went crazy! Up next was New York’s newest superstar and hip-hop rapper, Cardi B. She made the crowd go wild with her hot breaking hits Lick, Foreva and Bodak Yellow. The crowd went crazy and the concert was of course sold out! Now that’s historic!
The 27th annual Alumni Brunch at Morgan State University was held the next day. The event was delightful as alumni, and professors came together over brunch to converse about our accomplishments while attending Morgan and after we graduated from Morgan. I myself, an Alumna from Morgan, was honored to be in the midst of a group of educated individuals. During the brunch four students were honored with the Opportunity Award for Academic Excellence including Korey Matthews*. Also honored at the event was Student of the Year Award winner, Tramon Lucas*. Congratulations to all students on their phenomenal recognition. It was truly an honor to be in the presence of black excellence and I am extremely proud to have graduated from an HBCU such as Morgan.
The tailgate was smoking as students, alumni, families and members of different fraternities prepared for the Morgan State homecoming football game against Savannah State University with a cookout. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and I did too.
Now the game was great. Morgan started off with a kick of excitement that enabled them to be in the lead from start to finish. The crowd cheered and rooted as Morgan took home the win! This year’s homecoming at Morgan was by far one the most memorable homecoming as we celebrate Morgan’s 150 years of excellence!
