“I HAVE A DREAM”,
those profound words spoken by the perspicacious Dr. Martin Luther King, during the March on Washington for jobs and freedom on August 27th, 1963 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.
With over 250,00 people, attendees witnessed a game changing day in America. The speech spoke to those who faced political and economical repression. A system of legal discrimination, known as Jim Crow laws, were pervasive in the South, ensuring that Black Americans remained oppressed. They experienced discrimination from businesses and governments, and in some places were prevented from voting through intimidation and violence….. but y’all already knew that..right?
However our man Martin’s speech would make history on that summer day with his a masterpiece of rhetoric.
May Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. CONTINUE to rest in power and his work and legacy live on.
